New `57er ribbon bar - DKiG

Attached to the tunic of a Oberst i.G. of the Bundeswehr a new `57er ribbon bar came in today ...

Beside the visor hat visible in the picture there is the original trouser, a coat and a sidecap, all related to the same guy ...the jacket is - according to the named label - made in 1958 by a tailor in south germany. At this time the guy had the rank of an Oberstleutnant and the jacket for shure had pointed shoulderboards which where later changed to the modern rounded form.

I really enjoy this new item in my collection ...

    Regards,

    Jens

    Hi jens,

great looking tunic and a very nice ribbon bar. Does the ribbon completely fit with the awards of the tunic wearer, because you added it?

I like these very early tunics and visor...very interesting stuff too but i really have to learn much more about them.

What about the DK winner...is the name known??

Jens,Got to agree with Rudiger, thats a great looker 1958? this was the date i think when 57ers became available, so if the ribbon bar is original to the tunic, that makes it a very early and important group!
Do you have the name of the owner, or any details on his service record, wartime and/or postwar??
Any idea what happened to his other awards DKiG , EK1, etc.
Really great to see Jens, thanks for showing!!

Congrats Jens! I can clearly see why you are enjoying this addition!

I hope to see your answers to Rüdiger and Nigels inquiries. Smart chaps that they are!

Thanks for the kind words ...

Yes, the name is known, tunic, visor and sidecap are named and I got some information on his career - the DkiG should have been awarded to him in Oktober 1943 during his duty on eastern front and he ended the war in Italy. I´ll try to find out more wich I for shure will let you know !

The ribbon looks as if it attached on the runic since 1958 ...

          Regards,

          Jens

That is a very nice uniform and ribbon bar, thanks for posting.

Interesting to read that they actually did remove and attach other shoulderboards.

I recently got a Unifrom that came with a RK group that has the same shoulderboards as your uiform (also same colours).
One of my German friends thought that the Uniform was probably made after 1962 because it has round shoulderboards while the Jacket, trousers and visor are dated 1960 and 1961.
The funny part is that I found some stuff in his pockets including pointy shoulderboards.

Luud, it was not uncommon that the unifors where modernized. The new four pocket tunic was invented late in 1957 and the board stile allready changed in the end of 1962 . So many of this jackets where relatively new and changing the boards is no problem for a tailor ... so why the jacket should be replaced.
